COOLABUNIA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
March 8.
A very pleasant social gathering was held at Mr. Jas. Christiansen's, on February 20th., when about 50 people met at that gentleman's invitation to say "Goodbye" for a time to Mr. F. Jessen and family, who are leaving to take over the Wooroolin Hotel. About 50 people sat down to a most sumptuous dinner at about 6.30 pm., after which Mr. Christiansen spoke of Mr. Jessen's long residence in Coolabunia and his many excellent qualities as a friend and neighbour, and presented Mr. and Mrs. Jessen with some momentoes of his goodwill. Speeches eugolistic of Mr. Jessen's many good qualities were made by Mr. F. Horne and Mr. Toomey. Mr Christiansen was everywhere complemented on the excellent spirit which he displayed in arranging the gathering. The evening was spent very enjoyably in various games and dancing.
