  	OBITUARY MR. D. LAING.-The death of aL Mr. David Laing, an old and respected resident of Maryboough, in his eighty-second year, occurred at an early hour yesterday morning at his residence, Gallopili street. The late Mr. Laing was born in Lanarkshire, Scotland and together with his family came to Queensland, arriving at Maryborough 35 years ago. Being a coal miner by occupation he obtained employment in coal mines in the Howard district. He and his family resided at Howard for many years. Due to ill health he was compelled to relinquish his occupation and for a number of years has lived in retirement at Gallipoli-street. The late Mr. Laing was of a retiring disposition but during his long residence in these districts made many friends. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Gilmour Laing and three sons Messrs. James (Howard). William (New South Wales) and Alexander Laing (Scarness),also three daughters, Meodames W. H. Kernke, H. Poulter and E. H. Granzin (Marybough). One daughter Mrs. A. J.
