1950-1: Worked on large mixed farm in Essex
1951-2: Worked on smaller mixed farm in Suffolk
April 1952 onwards: Farm manager of 56 acre mixed farm.'
Studied agriculture at Chadacre College, Suffolk, briefly lived at/ran Valley Farm at Wissett, Suffolk, and ran an estate agency with his father.
Later he founded 'Simpson's Dental', supplying equipment and materials to dentists. Sold business to SS White. |

'Alan did not stay at School into the examination years and seems to have kept a relatively low profile though he played football for Whittington House.'
