WEDDING BELLS.
'Springbank,' the mountain home of Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Lumsden, was the scene of a pretty wedding on Wednesday, 29th March, when the members of two well-known families were united in wedlock: the bride, Miss Alma, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lumsden, and the bridegroom
Mr. Oswald O., only son of the late
Wm. McClelland, jun., and Mrs. Thos.
MoPherson, of Coraki, Richmond River. Entering the room on the arm of her father, who subsequently gave her away, the bride looked charming in a gown of white cashmere de soie, embroidered with white heads and having an overdress of chantilly lace. She wore the customary wreath and veil, lent by Mrs. S. Walker, and carried a shower bouquet with streamers of the bridegroom's regimental colors.
She was attended by her cousin Miss
Heather Lumsden, attired in white
crepe-de-chine, wearing a mop cap,
and carrying a bouquet of pink
flowers with mauve streamers. The
bridegroom was supported by Mr. J.
Lumsden, jun. The bridegroom presented the bride with an aquamarine brooch, and the bridesmaid with a necklet of aquamarines. The bride's present to the bridegroom was a pair of gold sleeve links.
After the ceremony, which was performed by the Rev. Mr. Hendry, of Berry, the guests partook of the bounteous hospitality of Mr. and Mrs. Lumsden. With just one or two exceptions the guests were confined to immediate relatives of both families, but conspicuous was Mr. B. Boxsell, who was the bridegroom's pal while on active service, and his fellow prisoner of war during a long sojourn in a German internment camp. The happy couple were the recipients of a large number of beautiful presents, amongst which was quite a sheaf of cheques.
Later Mr. end Mrs. McClelland left
on their honeymoon trip by motor for
Moss Vale. Mrs. McClelland travelled in a gown of grey crepe-de-chine embroidered with pink and hat en suite. As the car travelled on its way past the Beaumont school, where the bride had been a scholar, the school bell rang out a merry peal, and the master and scholars turned out to wish them good luck.
