1892 Secured Canadian Agency for The Sherwin-Williams Co.
1894 The Water H. Cottingham Co. and Cottingham Varnish Co. were formed to manufacture Sherwin-Williams products in Canada.
1896 Merger of The Walter H. Cottingham Co. and the Cottingham Varnish Co. with the Sherwin-Williams Co.
1896 Was made Director of The Sherwin-Williams Co. and Manager of its Canadian business.
1898 Was appointed General Manager of The Sherwin-Williams Co.
1903 Was made Vice-President and General Manager of the Sherwin-Williams Co.
1908 Was elected President and General Manager of The Sherwin-Williams Co.
1922 Retired from position at The Sherwin-Williams Co.

Private advice has been received from London of the death of Mr. Walter H. Cottlngham, chairman of directors of Lewis Berger and Sons, Ltd. For many years Mr. Cottingham took an active part in the development and extension of Lewis Berger and Sons, Limited, London, and in its branches, particularly in connection with the Australian and New Zealand organisations. He was in his 64th year.'

The death is announced from London of Mr. Walter H. Cottingham, chairman of directors of Louis Berger and Sons, Ltd. Mr. Cottingham, who died at his home at Maidenhead, had led a very active life, and took an active part in the development and extension of his firm's activities, particularly in connnection with the Australian and New Zealand organisations. He was chairman of the Sherwin Williams Companies of Canada and the United States, and had international interests in the paint manufacturing industries.'
