THEEBINE.
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
A very serious accident happened to Mr. Andrew Hoffman early this morning. It appears he was rounding up horses, when the horse he was riding crashed him into a fence post, fracturing his leg just below the knee. Fortunately for him, his brother and another person were passing some distance away and heard him shouting for help. Needless to say, many willing hands soon got to work and bound up his leg. Mr. Bergoffer brought his buggy to convey him to the station, but the break was too bad for mm to be conveyed in a vehicle, so a stretcher was made and he was carried about a mile and a half to the station. Thanks are due to the stretcher-bearers. Messrs. Bergoffer, Heaters (2) Kunst, Hoffman, Balderson (2). Mr. O. Sullivan also rendered valuable assistance. Mr. H. Balderson rendered first aid at the station. The patient was then transferred to the railway ambulance stretcher and conveyed to Gympie by the 10 o'clock train. All the railway officials are to be commended for their able assistance.

HOFFMAN-KUNST
The home of Mr and Mrs J. F. Kunst of Miva was the scene of a pretty wedding, accompanied by fitting celebrations on Wednesday, 27th February, 1918, when their only daughter, Gertie, was united in matrimony with Andrew J. Hoffman, son of Mr and Mrs Hoffman of Gunalda. The Rev. Tempest, of Maryborough, officiated, the ceremony being conducted amid most appropriate surroundings, and in the presence of a good gathering of friends and relatives of both contracting parties. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked most charming attired in a beautiful costume of crepe-de-chine. Bodice richly trimmed with silk chantilli, lace trimmed with pretty soft vest with revers of lace and silk couched embroidery. Skirt trimmed with placque, in front, finished with tasseled ends, also trimmed with couched silk embroidery. Bouquet of lillies and white dahlias and asparagus. She was attended by Miss R. E. Krafft, who wore a beautiful costume of silk marquisette, neatly trimmed with tucks and shadow lace over a pink slip of satin. She wore a spray of lily of the valley and a hat to match, and carried a beautiful bouquet of pink roses, white lillies and asparagus fern. The bridegroom was supported by his brother Archie. The groom's gift to the bride was a beautiful gold brooch, and to the bridesmaid a pretty ring, with name and date, while the bride's gift to the groom was a handsome set of gold sleeve links engraved.
The ceremony over, the party adjourned to an adjoining building, where beautiful repast had been set out in a most attractive way. The beautiful wedding cake, the work of Stellmach and Sons, was the central feature of the table, and was much admired. Mr. A. Thompson presided at the gathering, and full justice having been done to the good things provided, invited the Rev. Tempest to propose the toast of the day, which that gentleman did in a manner few can excel. The usual toasts followed, the young couple receiving good wishes and good advice in plenty. At night the gathering was added to by a large assemblage of young folk, who spent a most happy time. The young couple left next day on holiday bent, carrying with them good wishes from all for their future happiness. The bride's travelling costume was a beautiful sax blue cashmere voile, with trimmings and a hat to match. The wedding costumes were the work of Miss McMullan, of Maryborough, while the bridal veil was lent by the bridemaid's sister, Mrs. G. Preston, of Kingaroy. The presents were numerous, including many substantial cheques. The young couple will make their home at Theebine.
