Mr. N. P. Boisen, an early pioneer of the Isla and South Burnett districts, passed away in the Wondai hospital on March 22. The late Mr Boisen, who was 71 years of age, was a native of Denmark, and arrived in Australia in 1870. After accepting employment for a while, he selected from the Crown, a block of land in the famous Woongarra scrub, in the Bundaberg district, and carried on farming and sugarcane growing for about ten years. He then, with his wife and family, left for Tasmania, whore he purchased an orchard property at Hobart. Three years later he returned to Queensland, and selected in the now famous Isis scrub (Childers), where he engaged in sugarcane growing and general farming for about 21 years, and took an active interest in matters affecting the progress of the district. In 1905 he left the Isis and selected Crown lands at Tingoora (near Wondai), in the South Burnett district, where he carried on general farming and dairying. He lived here until about seven years ago, when he sold his property and went to live privately at East Brisbane.
His health began to fail a few months ago and he was on a health visit to Wondai, visiting his son and daughters, when he became seriously ill and was removed to the district hospital. The deceased is survived by his widow, four sons, five daughters, and 20 grandchildren. The sons and daughters are: Arthur (Tingoora), Alfred and Charles (Wondai), and William (Brisbane), Masdames , T. K. Cocking (Tingoora), H J Compagnoni (Wondai), G. E. Compagnoni (Mondure), C. Fenwick (Brisbane) and Nurse Boisen (Wondai). The funeral took place to the Tingoora cemetery, and was largely attended.
