JESSEN.-HARTVIGSEN
A wedding of much local interest was celebrated at St Stephen's Presbyterian Church, Maryborough, on October 14. The contracting parties were Gladys Mary, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs H. Hartvigsen, Gundiah, and Reginald Sophus, second son of Mr. and Mrs. N. S. Jessen, Gundiah. The Rev Mr McPhail officiated, and Miss Hetherington presided at the organ.
The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a handsome gown of ivory bridal satin closely moulded to the figure and falling in full flares about her white and silver shoes. The bodice revealed long bishop sleeves and neckline caught with brooch kindly lent by Mr. Turner, Gundiah: the brooch is over 50 years old. A beautifully embroidered tulle veil kindly lent by an aunt, Mrs. A. Andreassen, Cooran, was worn fan effect and was held in place with orange blossoms, from which it fell in soft folds to form a train. She also carried a bouquet made of wood pulp, which consisted of white roses, eucharis lilies and carnations, tied with white satin ribbon.
The bride was attended by one bridesmaid, Miss K. Hartvigsen, sister, who wore a frock of pink georgette, inlet with lace, and caught at neckline with silver posy. The head dress was made of matching pink tulle covered with silver leaves and caught with a wreath of tiny roses from which hung pink tulle to the waist line. She also carried a bouquet of pink and white roses and carnations made of wood pulp and tied with pink satin ribbon.
The bridegroom was attended by Mr. A. Jessen, brother, as best man. During the signing of the register, Miss Hetherington presided at the organ.
After the ceremony a reception was held at Cafe Kings, where the guests were received toy Mrs. Hartvigsen, mother of the bride. Mrs. Hartvigsen wore a frock of blue floral mariette, and hat to match. She was attended, by Mrs. N. S. Jessen, who wore a frock of uncrushable crepe and hat to match. The reception room was beautifully decorated with white and pink streamers. Over the table where the bridal couple sat was suspended a huge white wedding bell. A handsome three-tier wedding cake made by the bride's mother, and iced and decorated by Stellmachs, held pride of place on the table.
The young couple later left for Brisbane, Ipswich and Harrisville, where the honeymoon was spent. The bride travelled in a navy blue coat and skirt, with accessories to match.
