THE LATE MR C. H. THORSEN
The death occurred at his residence in Rundle Street on January 26 of Mr C. H. Thorsen at the age of 80 years. The late Mr Thorsen was born at North Schlesurg, Denmark, and came to Australia with his parents at the age of 14 years. His parents made their first home at Gracemere. The late Mr Thorsen's first work was driving a bullock team, and later, when the first railway was laid from Rockhampton to Stanwell, he was engaged in railway duties.
For 25 years he was chairman of the Port Curtis school committee, although at the time of his retirement he was a cab proprietor he previously ran horse buses on the Port Curtis and Depot Hill roads.
He was predeceased by his first wife 28 years after his arrival in Australia. He leaves a wife and six children Messrs Arthur (Brisbane), Gilbert, (Brisbane), and Wilfred and Miss Elsie Thorsen Bundaberg), Mrs P. Bullpit (Bundaberg), and Mrs W. Barnes (Rockhampton). One son, Percy, was killed in the Great War.
