FARMER MISSING
KINGAROY. Friday.
Edward Julius Wecker, of Alford Street, Kingaroy, and owner of farming properties at Chahpingah and Durong, left his home on Wednesday morning, supposedly, for his Durong property. Nothing has since been heard of him. Yesterday the police organised a search party. They were advised that a man answering to Wecker's description was seen walking along the Kumbia Road towards the showgrounds on Wednesday. This is in the opposite direction to the Durong route. Wecker. who is aged 52, is of dark complexion and heavily built, and walks with a limp.

FARMER'S ESTATE
Death remains mystery
THIRTEEN years after Edward Julius Wecker, retired farmer, disappeared from his Kingaroy home the cause of his death remains a mystery. A skull, believed to be Wecker's, was found inside a hollow log near Kingaroy nine years after his disappearance on September 16, 1936. Yesterday in the Supreme Court, Mr. Justice Matthews granted Wesley John Wecker, of Tingoora, near Kingaroy, leave to swear death as the proposed administrator of his father's £9554 gross estate.
In an affidavit, Sergeant James Patrick Gallagher, of Redbank police, formerly of Kingaroy police, said that the skull was found by a boy named Kevin Tincknell, of Kingaroy, while on a picnic at Mt. Wooroolin, two miles from Kingaroy, on September 2, 1945.
The log was about 30 feet from a patch of dense scrub in a reserve used as a rifle range, and was 40 feet from the road leading up the mountain.
JAW MISSING
The lower jaw of the skull was missing and Kingaroy dentists could not identify any work on the teeth.
Police inquiries had failed to disclose any suspicious circumstances in Wecker's disappear ance. No other human remains had been found.
A certificate by the Health Department Pathology Director (Dr. E. H. Derrick) stated that the top of the skull was rather flattened and agrees with the shape of the top of the head in a photograph of Wecker.
Wesley Wecker's affidavit stated that prior to his father's disappearance, Wecker lived with his wife, Maud Ethel Wecker, now of Clayfield, and her two children by an earlier marriage.
WIDE SEARCH
Wecker's affidavit continued that for about two or three weeks after his father's disappearance, a thorough search of the Kingaroy countryside, including Mt. Wooroolin, was made by more than 100 police and civilians, and two black trackers, without result.
Shortly before his disappearance his, father had been worried about the health of his wife, who had suffered a nervous breakdown. His father had never said or done anything which would lead him to suspect that he would take his own life, Wecker said.
Mr. D. O. Andrews, instructed by McGuire and Res. solicitors, Brisbane, town agents for Bond and Res., Kingaroy, represented the petitioner.
