WEDDINGS
WISE-THOMSEN.-The marriage of Clifford, only son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Wise, Arthur Street, Baddow, to Lenore Maud, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Noble Thomson, of Broowoena, took place in the Maryborough Weslev Methodist Church on December 4, at 11 a.m. Rev. Mr. Carter, of Biggenden, officiated.
The bride looked beautiful as she entered the church on the arm of her father, to the strains of the bridal march. Her frock of embossed cloque featured a long pointed bodice, trimmed with an inset of lace at yoke, and a row of pearl buttons from neck to waistline in front. The skirt, draped across the front, was caught up with sprigs of orange blossom. The long bridal veil was held in plane by a coronet of orange blossoms. She carried a bouquet of white asters, carnations, and pink rose buds. For "something old" she wore a pearl brooch loaned by the bridegroom's mother. She also wore pearl drop earrings to match.
Hazel, only sister of the bride, looked charming in her brides maid's frock of gold tulle over gold satin. She wore a lavander picture hat and carried a lavender posy of asters and Canterburv bells.
The little flower girl, Lorna Jones, friend of the bride and groom, looked very sweet in her mauve tulle frock made on the same lines as the bridesmaid's. She also wore a golden shade picture hat and carried a basket of golden gladioli, snapdragons and gerberas.
Mr. Harold McMeekin attended the bridegroom as bestman.
Mrs. Thomson, mother of the bride, received the guests at the Town Hall. She chose a pale blue crepe costume. The coat was trimmed with a row of small gold buttons, and brown accessories and a shoulder spray of frangipanni and rose. She was assisted by Mrs. Wise, mother of the groom, whose frock of brown crepe featured a key hole neckline and brown embroidery. She wore brown accessories and a pink and blue shoulder spray to match the floral trimming of her hat.
The 70 odd guests were entertained by the bride's parents at the wedding breakfast, where pride of place was given to the beautiful three-tier wedding cake, which was cut by the bride with a silver embossed knife, kindly loaned by Mrs. F. Nahrung. Congratulatory telegrams were read by the chairman, Rev. Carter.
The happy couple left by car for Tewantin. The bride chose for her travelling frock a royal blue crepe, the bodice featuring white beading, with white accessories to match. This frock was the work of her sister, Hazel, also the flower-girl's frock and hat.
It was disappointing that Mr. Wise, father of the bridegroom, was unable to be present because of illness.
